About walllet.com

walllet.com builds financial products for people whose work and money cross borders.

For a freelancer or remote worker, getting paid is rarely one clean action. The process may involve sharing account details, waiting for a transfer, checking fees, understanding payment status, holding income in another currency, paying for international services and converting money for local use.

walllet.com brings those activities into a more coherent experience. Our work includes global receiving routes, digital balances, cards, local conversion and self-custody features, subject to product availability and user eligibility.

Good UX in this environment means helping people understand what is happening, what they need to do and what may happen next.

About the role

We are hiring a UX Designer to investigate how customers use walllet.com and improve the journeys they rely on.

You will study user behaviour, map end-to-end experiences and design flows that reduce uncertainty without removing information people need to make financial decisions.

The role covers both planned product development and existing product friction. One week may involve testing a new onboarding concept. Another may involve analysing why users abandon a transfer flow or misunderstand the status of a card payment.

You will work across research, journey design, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing. Visual polish matters, but the central responsibility is making the experience understandable and usable.

What you’ll be doing

  • Planning and conducting user interviews, usability tests and workflow studies

  • Mapping end-to-end journeys across acquisition, onboarding, verification, receiving, spending and conversion

  • Identifying where users become uncertain, make errors or contact support

  • Turning research findings into clear product opportunities and design recommendations

  • Creating task flows, information architecture, wireframes and interactive prototypes

  • Testing concepts before engineering investment becomes expensive

  • Working with product designers to connect research findings to interface decisions

  • Collaborating with product managers, engineers, support and operations

  • Writing research plans, discussion guides, findings and decision records

  • Building reusable research repositories and tagging recurring customer problems

  • Evaluating content clarity, field requirements and error recovery

  • Supporting accessibility reviews and inclusive design decisions

  • Measuring whether released changes improve completion, comprehension or confidence

What you’ll need

  • At least 3 years of professional UX design or UX research experience

  • A portfolio showing your process from question to evidence to design decision

  • Experience conducting moderated or unmoderated usability testing

  • Ability to create journey maps, user flows, wireframes and prototypes

  • Strong understanding of information architecture and interaction design

  • Experience synthesising qualitative findings without overstating small samples

  • Ability to distinguish user preference from evidence of usability

  • Clear written and spoken communication

  • Working knowledge of Figma or comparable design tools

  • Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams

  • Comfort working independently in a remote environment

  • Ability to handle sensitive customer information responsibly

Nice to have

  • Experience researching financial, payment, banking or wallet products

  • Familiarity with users in Nigeria or other markets where income frequently crosses currencies

  • Experience researching trust, security, identity verification or payment failure

  • Knowledge of accessibility research methods

  • Experience using analytics, session data or support-ticket patterns alongside interviews

  • Familiarity with survey design

  • Experience conducting remote research across different regions or languages

  • Basic understanding of behavioural economics or financial decision-making

What we offer

  • Meaningful ownership and direct influence on the product

  • A thoughtful, low-ego team that values clear communication

  • Flexible work with time for focused craft and collaboration

  • The chance to help build financial tools for a global customer base
